Lucille Monica Christiansen

Lucille M. (Mishak) Christiansen was born October 14, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska. At the age of 4, Lucille was adopted by Stanley and MaryAnn Mishak, and was raised in their South Omaha home. Lucille attended Ashland Elementary Grade School and Omaha South High School. As a young girl, Lucille won an Annie Oakley B.B. Gun Award. Lucille married Sam Christiansen on October 7, 1945 at St. Patrick*s Catholic Church in Elkhorn, Nebraska, and to this union, 5 children were born: Stanley, Jack, Kenneth, Sam and Monica. Lucille worked at the Peter Pan Bakery before moving on to work at Western Electric. She held many different positions in her years there, from general labor to line person. She retired from Western Electric in 1986. Lucille was a member of the Yutan Gun Club, and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, trap shooting, hunting, fishing, and raising her pets. She cheered for the Huskers, and was always ready for a steak from Farmer Brown*s or a good cup of coffee. Lucille enjoyed listening to country and polka music, but had no time for selfish people. Somehow, everything always seemed to match the color of her eyes, and she always gave unselfishly or herself. She was a proud wife to Sam, and mother to her children, and will be remembered as a strong, caring, giving woman, who was a friend to everyone, and never complained. She was a wonderful person. Lucille passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 2 days. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam, and sons Jack and Kenneth Christiansen. Lucille is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Stanley & Kathy of Humble, TX, and Sam & Mary of Omaha, daughter and son-in-law Monica & Dan Walters of Waterloo, NE, and daughter-in-law Cheryel Christiansen of Bennington, NE; 15 Grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren, and her dog, Bubbles. Lucille M. (Mishak) Christiansen, age 84, of Waterloo, NE, died 9-16-13. Preceded in death by husband Sam, and sons Jack and Kenneth Christiansen. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Stanley & Kathy of Humble, TX, and Sam & Mary of Omaha, daughter and son-in-law Monica & Dan Walters of Waterloo, NE, daughter-in-law Cheryel Christiansen of Bennington, NE, 15 Grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren, and her dog, Bubbles. Memorial service 7 PM Friday with visitation one hour prior. Private inurnment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Waterloo Fire and Rescue Squad.
