Michael Andrew Yarges

Michael Andrew Yarges, 49, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, after a courageous year-and-a-half-long battle with esophageal cancer. A devoted husband, father, son, and brother, Michael will always be remembered for his humor, kindness, and the deep love he had for his family. Born on February 3, 1976, in Omaha, Michael was the beloved son of Marjorie Fergus and Dale Yarges and the stepson of Alvina Yarges and Robin Fergus. He graduated from Westside High School in 1994 and went on to pursue courses at the University of Nebraska Omaha. For 25 years, Michael dedicated his career to Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (formerly Iron Planet & Asset Appraisal Services), where his enthusiasm, reliability, and vibrant personality made him loved and respected by colleagues and clients alike. In 2010, Michael married Roxann, the love of his life, and together they built a joyful, adventure-filled marriage. Their daughter, Chloe, born in 2015, was the greatest joy of his life. Michael’s family was his world, and he found his greatest happiness in spending time with them. His playful humor, big heart, and boundless creativity made every day brighter for those around him. Michael was endlessly curious and talented — a true creator at heart. He loved drawing, painting, photography, and cooking. His passions ranged from the ocean, travel, and motorcycles, to art, science, gaming, collecting retro toy memorabilia, and being an expert aquarist. His eclectic interests reflected his unique and whimsical spirit. Michael is survived by his wife Roxann, daughter Chloe, father Dale Yarges, stepmother Alvina Yarges, stepfather Robin Fergus, brothers Brian and Jeffrey Yarges, and stepsiblings Zack, Seth, and Emily Fergus. He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Fergus and grandparents Gwyn and Stephen Barker and Ethel and Marvin Yarges. A memorial service will be held at St. Augustine of Canterbury, 285 So. 208th Street, Elkhorn, Nebraska, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception and lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for his daughter, Chloe's future education and for specific cancer groups.
