Sharon Lee Glandt

Sharon Lee Glandt, age 79 of Omaha, died on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She was born the daughter of Leo and Gladys (Ross) Brunmeier on October 20, 1938 in Butte, Nebraska. She spent her younger years in Butte NE, Norfolk NE, Milwaukie OR, Fremont NE and then to Omaha, NE. She graduated from the North High School in Omaha in 1958. As a young person, she enjoyed dance, climbing trees, riding her bike and hanging with family. On August 30, 1958, Sharon was united in marriage to Harold V. Glandt at the Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Omaha. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family, as well as her flowers, gardening and apple trees, bowling, playing cards, tennis and bird watching. But her family always came first! She always had one eye on her kids so it was hard to get away with anything. She had her kids in every sport they wanted to be in and never missed an event. That included being a Girl Scout Leader and mentor to many of the girls in the troop which made lasting memories for her and the girls. As their children were growing, the family had many opportunities to enjoy tent camping, fishing, water skiing, and vacationing in the camper to Husker games. There were trips to Colorado to see her sister and family where they would also camp, fish and ski. As older adults, they would still go canoeing and snow skiing, and she loved to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events. Then along came her grandchildren. She helped raise four of the seven with love and keeping them busy with cooking, chores, sports, and animals from dogs, cats, rabbits and a faithful horse, “Bee”. Although she was a great cook, she preferred to be outside in the yard. Her and Harold were joined at the hip for over 60 years, hardly doing anything apart unless it was shopping. Sharon loved cheering on the Huskers with the entire family and also watching golf whenever her cousin, Ryan Moore, was on TV. Her favorite pastime was watching old westerns, especially ones with John Wayne, and musicals. She played tennis for twenty years making tons of friends and being an organizer for the West Omaha Tennis League. She played mixed doubles with her family and they will never forget her encouragement, big smile and great backhands! Her beautiful smile was for everyone she met and she was always very kind-hearted. Words that her family say reflects on her are: Loving, Beautiful, Nurturing, Respectful and Particular. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Sandra Hale. Sharon is survived by her husband, Harold Glandt of Omaha; daughters: Kimberly (Ed) McEachen, and Pamela (Lee) Camenzind, and son Curtis Glandt; seven grandchildren: Chad (Erin) Reed, Shannan (Mark) Ackerman, Aron Camenzind, Case (Joscelyn) Camenzind, Calli (Erik) Soll, Logan and Rylee Glandt; and 6 great grandchildren: Keegan and Kylie, Cade; Audra, Roy and Lee.
