William R. "Bill" Henk

William R. “Bill” Henk, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, was born on January 9, 1954, in Key West, Florida, to Robert and Dorothy Henk. One of nine children and the second-oldest boy in the family, Bill spent most of his childhood growing up in Ralston, Nebraska. He graduated from Ralston High School in 1972. On March 10, 1973, Bill married his high-school sweetheart, Sandra “Sandee” Lorena Lane, at St. Gerald Catholic Church. Soon after they were married, Bill and Sandee moved to Seward, Nebraska, where Bill began his career with Walker Manufacturing. He remained with the company for more than 30 years, bringing the same dedication, practical skill, and reliability to his work that he brought to his family. Bill was a devout Catholic who was very dedicated to his church, and his faith was deeply important to him. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and time on the water. He took tremendous pride in his boat, putting countless hours of work into it and enjoying regular fishing trips aboard it. Above all, Bill loved being involved in the lives of his grandchildren. Whether it was an activity, a game, a milestone, or simply time spent together, he cared deeply about whatever they were doing. To those who knew him best, Bill was the man who could fix anything—mechanical or otherwise. There was little he could not repair, improve, figure out, or help solve. He was a steadfast and dependable presence in his children’s lives, someone they could always count on and a hero to each of them. His work ethic, generosity, practical wisdom, and love for his family will remain part of the legacy he leaves behind. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Henk. He is survived by his devoted wife of more than five decades, Sandee Henk; his children, Holle Eicher and her husband, Chad, Ben Henk and his wife, Mallory, and Samantha Almquist; his grandchildren, Taylor Maxwell and her spouse, Tim, Paige Eicher, Grant Eicher and his spouse, Lexi, Ryan Eicher, Jaxson Eicher, Avery Eicher, Leila Henk, Alexa Henk, Easton Henk, Charlee Henk, Reese Almquist, Cade Almquist, and Livi Almquist; his great grandchild, Sullivan Maxwell; and his siblings, Henry “Herk” Henk (Sue), Mark Henk (Susie), Ann Sorenson (John), Michael Henk, Joe Henk (Sue), John Henk (Mary), Janice Kaufman (Clark), and Nancy Ocken (Dale). Bill will be deeply missed by the family and friends whose lives were made better by his steady presence, helping hands, and enduring love. Service Details are Pending.
